NEW DELHI: In an incident of road rage in the Khayala area of west Delhi, a man reportedly bit and severed a portion of a 56-year-old individual’s finger, as per police reports on Friday.
An FIR has been filed against the accused, identified as Umang Taneja, and the police have initiated an investigation.
According to the victim, Rajesh, the incident occurred around 11:40 am on Wednesday after he dropped his wife near Keshopur Mandi on his motorcycle and was on his way back home.A car hit his leg from behind, promptingRajesh to ask the driver to drive responsibly. However, the driver engaged in an argument and physically assaulted him.
Rajesh stated in his police complaint that during the altercation, the assailant bit his left hand’s index finger, leading to the dismemberment of its upper portion as he attempted to defend himself. Umang Taneja tried to flee, but bystanders intervened, subdued him, and contacted the police.
The victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, confirmed a senior police officer. The FIR against Taneja includes charges under Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code.
