NOIDA: A residents’ association in Noida on Monday announced its intention to file a petition with the Supreme Court, challenging the recent decision by the Allahabad high court to acquit domestic worker Surendra Koli and his employer Moninder Singh Pandher in the Nithari serial killings case from 2006.

Full story of the Nithari case: Who are Surinder Koli, Moninder Pandher now acquitted in 12 cases?

The District Development Residents Welfare Association (DDRWA) is currently in the process of seeking legal counsel and has already held meetings with the families of the victims to discuss the next steps in the case.
“We initially considered providing financial support to the families of the victims, but following deliberations, we have resolved to pursue the case and cover the legal costs for the Supreme Court proceedings,” explained NP Singh, the president of DDRWA, in a statement to PTI.
“We have obtained the consent of the victim families, and our legal team is currently reviewing the high court’s verdict. They will provide us with guidance on our next steps in this case. Our aim is to file an appeal with the Supreme Court within a week,” added Singh.
Ashok, who tragically lost his five-year-old son in the Nithari serial killings, has communicated with the residents’ association regarding the case.
“I have given them my approval to proceed with this case in the highest court. Let’s wait and see what unfolds,” remarked Ashok, a footwear shop owner, in his statement to PTI.
Businessman Moninder Singh Pandher, aged 65, who was apprehended in connection with the high-profile case, was released from Luksar jail in Greater Noida on Friday.
On October 16, the Allahabad high court acquitted him and his domestic help, Koli, in the case, citing the prosecution’s failure to establish guilt “beyond reasonable doubt” and acknowledging serious flaws in the investigation process.
The two individuals were originally charged with rape and murder, and a lower court had sentenced them to death for their involvement in the Nithari killings in Noida.
The case had garnered nationwide attention due to the gruesome nature of the crimes, which included sexual assault, brutal murders, and indications of potential cannibalism.
