NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed the concerning issue of the use of artificial intelligence for creating ‘deep fake’ content. He deemed this technological development problematic and called upon the media to play an active role in educating the public about the potential risks associated with it.
PM Modi also stressed the importance of awareness and vigilance in dealing with such challenges posed by evolving technology.
Addressing journalists at BJP‘s Diwali Milan programme at the party’s headquarters in Delhi, PM Modi also referred to his resolve to make India ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India), saying these are not merely words but a ground reality. He also said that ‘vocal for local’ has found people’s support.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister took a moment to reflect on India’s remarkable achievements during the Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized that these accomplishments have not only demonstrated the nation’s resilience but have also instilled confidence among the people. PM Modi conveyed the sentiment that India’s progress is unstoppable, and the nation is poised to continue its trajectory of success.
He also said that Chhath Puja has become a ‘rashtriya parva’ (national festival) and it is a matter of great happiness.
Accompanying him were home minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda, making the event a significant gathering for the ruling party.
This confluence of events showcased the political leadership’s engagement with pressing technological issues, as well as the celebration of India’s resilience and success during challenging times. The Prime Minister’s call for media education underscores the government’s commitment to addressing emerging challenges and fostering a technologically aware society.
