NEW DELHI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi launched a fierce attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led government over the alleged irregularities in the NEET exam and the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam. In response BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi accused Rahul Gandhi of politicizing the sensitive issue of NEET. He said that the government is aware and sensitive to the matter and will take strict action in accordance with legal proceedings.Trivedi criticized Rahul for not addressing similar issues in Congress-ruled states like Rajasthan, where paper leaks have occurred.
Trivedi said that, “Govt is fully alert and sensitive over NEET exam. Govt is determined and won’t let any injustice happen to lakhs of students.”
He further highlighted that, “Rahul Gandhi has nothing to do with the future of lakhs of students; he just wants to play his politics on this topic. In Rajasthan, paper leak happened, but Rahul Gandhi did not utter a word on it.”Trivedi took a jibe at opposition’s perfromance and said , “If a leader like Rahul Gandhi, who failed to secure even 100 seats out of 545 in the Lok Sabha, declares himself a representative of meritorious students while their issues are still under judicial consideration, it clearly shows he has no real concern for the future of lakhs of students. Instead, he’s only focused on his own political gain, much like how he stayed silent on the numerous paper leak cases in Rajasthan.”
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla defended the government’s actions, stating that only a few centers had issues during the NEET exam and the government is dedicated to ensuring justice for affected students. Poonawalla accused the Congress and Ashok Gehlot’s government in Rajasthan of being responsible for past paper leaks and of politicizing the issue.

Poonawalla said, “Just because Rahul Gandhi failed for the third time doesn’t mean that he can abuse the youth of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh…he said that Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are epicenters (of paper leaks). If you have some issue with an exam, you can point out its shortcomings but just because you have some personal issues with PM Modi, you make such big allegations against the youth of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. If there is an epicenter for paper leak in the country, it was Congress’ and Ashok Gehlot’s govt in Rajasthan.”
He also mentioned that a video shared by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi regarding the NEET exam was proven false by the High Court, which dismissed the case and allowed legal action against the false claims. Poonawalla hinted at a possible connection between the NEET paper leak and the RJD, suggesting that it was a planned activity.

Poonawalla added, “Rahul Gandhi, you accused the youth of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat while protecting those responsible for the real crimes. This is a deliberate attempt to distract from the actual culprits and mislead the public. The government is sensitive to the concerns of students and will ensure that justice is served. We urge Mr. Gandhi to refrain from spreading lies and playing politics with such sensitive issues. The government is committed to addressing any discrepancies and ensuring fair treatment for all students.”

Poonawalla concluded by requesting Rahul Gandhi to provide evidence for his claims before drawing any conclusions. “Spreading false information without a court verdict or investigation report is not only irresponsible but also raises doubts about his intentions. The Congress party has a history of jumping to conclusions without waiting for investigation outcomes,” he said.
The BJP has criticized Rahul Gandhi for allegedly attempting to divert attention from issues in Congress-ruled states and for exploiting sensitive topics like the NEET exam for political gain.
