BHIWANDI: A private hospital in Bhiwandi has filed a criminal offence against one of its employees, accusing her of planting narcotic drugs on the hospital premises to “defame” the health facility. The woman employee, working as ‘assistant administrator’ has been having a dispute with the hospital management and she “placed 25gm of ganja in the Out Patient Department (OPD) to defame the hospital”, its management has claimed.
A case has been registered against the employee and her unidentified accomplices who helped her plant the ganja. No arrest has been made in the case so far.
The incident came to light recently when officials of Narpolice station got information that SS Hospital had “stashed ganja on its premises”. The police searched the hospital premises on November 16 and found the ganja in the OPD.
Some senior employees of the hospital, including chief executive officer (CEO) Ajit Pashilkar, were summoned for enquiry, police sources said, adding that during the probe the CEO raised a doubt that someone with an intention to malign the hospital’s image had planted the drugs. The CEO sought time from the police to conduct an internal enquiry.
The FIR states that during the internal enquiry, footage from closed-circuit television cameras installed at the hospital was checked and the “assistant administrator’s was found visiting the OPD section frequently, raising suspicion”.
The CEO buttressed his suspicion of her involvement by stating that there was internal dispute going on between her and the management over the last few days regarding alleged misuse of funds.
Going by the CEO’s complaint, the police on Sunday booked the assistant administrator and three of her unidentified accomplices who have been captured in the footage under sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Sub-inspector Ashish Pawar of Narpoli police station said that the criminal offence has been registered against the woman who works as assistant administrator and her three accomplices.
